Obituary
On December 30, 2015, Mrs. Helen Cooknell of St. Paul passed away at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her son, Ron; daughter, Marcella (Paul) Goudreau; 2 grandchildren, Bernard (Jennifer) Goudreau & Colette Goudreau; 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob & Hailey; 2 sisters, Theresa Feland & Louise Lajoie; 2 sisters-in-law, Sophie Carle & Helen Carle; numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in 2009; parents, Francois & Emilda Carle; stepmother, Bertha Carle; 2 brothers, Rene & Leo; sister, Cecile Gonneville. Liturgy of the Word & Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel, St. Paul. Reverend Father Gerard Gauthier will be officiating, with interment in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Cemetery, Therien. I cried holding your hand while you took your last breath, you fought a good fight against this terrible disease. You will be terribly missed by your family and all the girls who looked after you at Extendicare, but mostly I will miss your love of music and dancing and your smile with your beautiful blue eyes. Ron, you did a super job for 5 years as a son, she is at peace now and with Dad. Rest in Peace dear sister, going to miss you lots as well as the staff that took good care of you….. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family members. Have many good memories of the visits we had at the lake. When your dad was alive they would drive out fairly often and stop at the house for a short visit. My Don always appreciated it so much as he was often not feeling well. I would often see them at their lot when on my walks and we would have a small chat. Also had lots of ball toss games with your mom at Extendicare. May the memories surround you like a warm blanket.
