Patricia LUCE

July 4, 1942 - October 29, 2020

Obituary

On October 29, 2020, at the age of 78, Mrs. Patricia Luce of St. Albert, formerly of Flat Lake, peacefully passed away with her children by her side. Patricia will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son, James (Eveline) and their children, Kassandra and Angelina; and her daughter, Amber Gratton (Bernie) and their children, Jakobi, Kalen and Lexie. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Webb; parents, Patrick and Annie (Ann) Krawchuk; and sister, Kathleen Maxwell. Patricia had a long and fulfilling career as a teacher. Along with her husband, they loved their life on the farm, raising a wide variety of animals and pets. She also enjoyed her bountiful garden and beautiful flowerbeds. The time spent with their children and grandchildren was extremely important and meaningful to them. They relished in providing their grandchildren with many adventures and activities that will be lovingly remembered forever. They also enjoyed the companionship of neighbors and friends. They loved living in the moment which led to many spontaneous trips and adventures. Unfortunately, Mom spent the last 10 years coping with the debilitating and devastating effects of dementia. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Covenant Health Youville Home in St. Albert and Extendicare in St. Paul for their support and wonderful care during these years. A Private Family Service will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel, St. Paul with interment in Union Cemetery, St. Paul. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta & Northwest Territories c/o 5626 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. Pat was my colleague at Glendon School. I fondly remember her as a calm and very witty mentor. I always respected her for her grace, her humor and her morals. Cherish her memory.

Heaven has added an Angel; your Mom was such a wonderful person. I had the privilege of meeting her only a few times. But I could feel and tell how special she was to everyone. Ray has shared numerous memories with me about family visits in Bowsman. A blessing that she gets to be with Uncle Webb now. Her journey is over. God bless you and your family and watch over you during this most difficult time.

Dear Amber, James and families,
This is such a beautiful picture of your mother. She was always a very kind and gentle soul. She was so helpful and patient with me when I first started my teaching career and worked in her classroom as a sub. May you embrace the many beautiful and happy memories you have. Sending our love to you and many, many warm wishes to you all.
Sincerely,
Calvin and Cyndie Kissel

To an Educator who truly was an inspiration and a mentor, and to her loving family – she was my and many of my classmates all-time favourite teacher. Her warm, caring and calm demeanour were never underestimated.
