Obituary
On April 21, 2013, Mrs. Nellie Pshyk of Glendon passed away at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elanik of Glendon; son, John (Patricia) Pshyk of Glendon; 4 grandchildren, David (Darlene) Elanik of Sherwood Park, Steven Pshyk of Glendon, Dana (Dean) Whelen of Fort McMurray & Kerri (Ron) Dechaine of St. Paul; granddaughter-in-law, Carol Elanik of Edmonton; 5 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Dylan, Alexander, Adam & Easton; 2 sisters, Annie Makar of Bonnyville & Mary Laniuk of Edmonton; numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex; parents, Alex & Maria; son-in-law, Alec Elanik; grandson, Jerry Elanik; 2 brothers-in-law, Harry Makar & Peter Laniuk. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Glendon R.C.M.P. Century Hall, Glendon. Reverend Father Mark Sych will be officiating with interment in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Glendon. If desired, donations may be made to Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or Haying in the 30's (Cancer Support Society) c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. Mary, John & Pat and families. I feel that there was so much more about Auntie Nancy that I never got to know. What I did see was the gentle and welcoming nature of her sole, and of course, her delicious baking that she so freely shared, has left a lasting impression. I am already missing her. May she rest in peace. Our prayers are with you.

What a lovely and gracious lady! She would always smile at me and come and stand by me after she finished making the balls and pinch or reshape my perogies. She had the most endearing smile and sparkling eyes and just said, “Good, good” even if the perogies weren’t! She knew that my son Reid was nicknamed Rooster so she brought me two cross stitched roosters. I have them framed and put in his room. God Speed Baba, rest in peace! I miss you in the kitchen…you lit up the room with your gentle smile.
