Obituary
On January 28, 2016, Mr. Marcus “Asiniy Awasis” Cardinal-Steinhauer of Saddle Lake passed away suddenly at the age of 21 years. He is survived by his girlfriend, Louanna Cardinal; father, Joseph (Liz) Steinhauer; mother, Irene Cardinal; brothers, Charles (Anita) Robinson, Daniel (Krista) Prince, Tyrone Cardinal & Byron Cardinal; aunties, Judy Brule & Michelle Steinhauer; uncles, Leon Cardinal & Garry Cardinal; mosom, Fred M. Cardinal; numerous nieces & nephews; many family members in Kitimat, B.C. He was predeceased by his step-brother, Michael Harborne; grandparents, Alice & Eugene Steinhauer, Raymond James Whitford & Mary Theresa Cardinal, Tom & Dora Robinson. A Wake will be held on Monday, February 1 at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. A Traditional Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 2 beginning with a Pipe Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake; followed by a Traditional Graveside Service at Paskwaw Steinhauer Cemetery and a Feast at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake.
