Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of John “Jack” Dickson on October 25, 2014, at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia; daughter, Penny (Sean Ross); son, Trevor. He has 6 grandchildren, Lindsay, Keigan, Kiana, Massia, Tristan & Tela; 3 great-grandchildren, Kayden, Brieana & Parker. He will remembered for his love of family, his community spirit and his abiding faith. Volunteer work was his passion. He was a great writer of poetry and a marvelous Sunday school teacher. John requested no funeral, and cremation has taken place. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of St. Therese hospital; Dr. Amusan and the wonderful nurses; also the home care staff who nurtured us all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashmont Agricultural Society or a charity of one’s choice c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. Pat, Penny and Shaun, Trevor and Grandchildren,

We offer to you our sincere sympathies in the passing of Jack. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Jack was a great friend to our family. Garry and Jack spent many hours together over many years doing volunteer work for the Agricultural Society and working on Garry’s farm. Jack was always willing to lend a hand, never wanting anything in return. He and Garry had many adventures over the years. He loved life, had a great sense of humour and a wonderful smile! He served as the first president of the Ashmont Agricultural Society; as well, he served capably in other positions on the Board over many years and was in charge of securing funding grants and was a master at this! How we will remember the discussions about world news we had around our kitchen table over the years and all the talks in Garry’s shop! Jack, you will always be in our thoughts and memories and we will miss you greatly.
