Obituary
On February 6, 2013, Mrs. Irene Magnusson of Elk Point passed away at the age of 95 years. She is survived by 3 sons & 1 daughter, Melvin (Aline) Magnusson of Fairview, Charles (Anne) Magnusson of Edmonton, Dennis Magnusson of Vancouver, B.C. & Lyn Young of Elk Point; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers & 1 sister, James Arnold of Surrey, B.C., Edison Arnold of Louisville, KT & Virginia Carlson of Sointula, B.C.; numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Grant & Kate Arnold; husband, Clifton; daughter, Patricia; 6 brothers, Laurence, Frank, George, Norman, Alan & Emerson; 3 sisters, Grace, Ethel & Anne. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Elk Point Seniors Center, Elk Point. If desired, donations may be made to Parkview Resident’s Council or a charity of one’s choice c/o 5626-51 Street, St.Paul, Alberta T0A 3A1. Irene was our mother’s dearest friend and to us ‘kids’, our ‘other Mom.’ Not only did Irene influence our upbringing, her love of life and nature so aptly portrayed in her poetry, short stories and ‘Alberta Trails’ is a legacy she’s left everyone.
