Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and loss that the family of Eugene Jacques Joseph Joly announces his passing on October 26th, 2020 at the age of 93 years. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Denise; eight devoted children, Leo (Leona), Roland (Bonnie), Gilbert (Della), Germaine (Jim), Jules (Lenie), Agathe (Dave), Alain (Cindy) & Lilianne (Ken); 22 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles-Emile, Fr. Maurice OMI, Jeanne & Agathe. Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Charles Omer & Blanche; several brothers & sisters, la petite Agathe, Francois, Laurent, Fr. Jacques OMI, Laurier, Sylvio, Pierre and most recently, Cecile. A Private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul Cathedral, St. Paul, with Father Maurice Joly OMI & Reverend Father Gerard Gauthier con-celebrating. Those wishing to view the service may do so by livestream on Monday, November 2 at 11:00 a.m. at http://bit.ly/EugeneJoly. Eugene specifically asked his family to thank his doctor and the numerous healthcare workers who looked after him during his stay at the hospital and especially the homecare nurses and personal care attendants who cared for him during his last few days at home. Eugene’s family would also like to thank everyone for the kind words, cards, food and flowers.
