Relation: ex-teacher

My condolences to the Hunter family! My prayers and blessings to your family at time of loss of beloved friend who was such an inspiration of our native people. REST IN PEACE SISTER IN CHRIST, EMILY HUNTER! God Bless,,,,

From: Doris Gladue
Relation: former student

It has been an honour to have been one of Mrs. Hunter’s former students. Her commitment, dedication and overall love of the Cree language was evident whenever she taught. She inspired me to further pursue my studies in the Cree language, in which later, I majored in. Her wisdom and teachings will forever be a part of me. Thank you Emily for your patience and kindness! I will always be grateful! Aye-Aye ninaskomitinan!

From: Pat McCormack
Relation: Colleague at Native Studies

Emily was a wonderful colleague who made a huge difference at Native Studies as its Cree professor. She was kind and thoughtful. My best wishes to her family at this very sad time.

From: Richard Price
Relation: I worked with her at the U of A.

My condolences to the family of Emily Hunter. It was a great pleasure for me to work with Emily for a number of years. Emily did a wonderful job in launching and developing our Cree language program in the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta.

From: Nav Atwal
Relation: I met Emily through work and became friends

Emily was one of those rare people who always thought of others first.
She had a deep love for children, which is why I became so fond of Emily so quickly. She was selfless, altruistic and caring. She was also brilliant in the field of education and taught students and adults many wonderful and insightful things. May she rest in peace and may her many loved ones remember her fondly for a very long time.
