Obituary
On November 7, 2014 Mrs. Doris Cherniwchan of Downing passed away at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her sons, Dennis of Edmonton, Marven (Candy) of Cold Lake & John (Renee) of Smoky Lake; 10 grandchildren, Brian, Shawn, Kelly (Carly), Ryan (Jenna), Greg (Amy), Janice, Aaron (Borjana), Kyle, Sarah & Olyanna; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alex (Olga), John (Elsie), Vicki Stark, Katherine (Archie) Karbonik, all of Edmonton & Steve (Margie) of B.C.; numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Metro; brothers, Metro, George, Bill, Nick & Andrew; her parents, Fred & Mary Hnatiuk. A Visitation of family & friends will take place on Wednesday, November 12 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel, St. Paul. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Russo Orthodox Church, Dickie Bush. Reverend Father Daniel Frisson will be officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to St. Peter & Paul Russo Orthodox Church, Dickie Bush c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. “A Loving Heart………..A Beautiful Soul”!
Many years ago, on a beautiful summer day, Doris & I were enjoying a walk on the farm. During conversation, I told her it would be wonderful if she would take a vacation from the farm. Her reply: “No thank you, I love my farm. When my family & friends come to visit, that IS a vacation….and the only vacation I will ever need.” In truth, and spoken from her heart! I responded with a huge hug and told her she was ONE rare breed, indeed! I will never forget that moment….that simple moment in time. The memories she leaves behind are priceless, and I am genuinely grateful my 3 Sons have been blessed with having this kind & gentle Lady as their Baba. I thank her, for her unconditional love & support she has given them throughout their lives.
My sincere & respectful condolences to ALL of Doris’s Family. She was loved & appreciated by many.
