Obituary
On December 23, 2012, Mr. Chester Whelen of Holden, formerly of Ashmont, passed away at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Annette; 2 sons & 1 daughter, Gary (Shirley) Whelen, Barry Dwayne (Marilyn) Whelen & Kris Kosteck (friend, Bonnie); 3 step-daughters, Frankie Lovli, Judy (Gary) Moore, Suzanne Amendolagine; 5 step-children, Marianne Semeniuk, Sally (George) Waselenchuk, Susie (Jim) McIntyre, Gordon (Crystal) Semeniuk & Judy Candy; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He was predeceased of by his parents, James & Margaret Whelen; 1st wife, Lillian Jean Chambers; 2nd wife, Beatrice Royar; 2 brothers, James & Edward; 2 sisters, Augusta & Evangeline. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Ashmont Agri-plex, Ashmont. Pastor Kelly Sibley officiating, with interment in Ashmont Community Cemetery, Ashmont. If desired, donations may be made to Haying in the 30's (Cancer Support Society) or a charity of one’s choice c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. You had a heart as big as the world and when you took on the task of helping to support five girls you took on a job pretty big but you did it. My dear Papa, my bestt memories are camping with you and Meimiere’, visiting your relatives in Goodfish, and staying at Pow Wows…not sleeping because you were up singing all night! You moved to BC to save me, and I will always be grateful. I love you, this world was a better place with you in it. “A TippyToe and Cotton go fishin’ on the bayou, have a lotta fun on my little piero, along come an aligator overturn the piero…..” will forever be in my heart.
