Obituary

On March 22, 2014, Mrs. Marie-Ange Annette Chamberland (née Pigeon) of Edmonton, formerly of St. Paul, passed away at the age of 87 years. She is survived by 4 daughters, Juliette (Roy) Hawreluk of Kelowna, B.C., Yolande (Jean-Marc) Cadrin of Edmonton, Louise (Danny) Smyl of St. Paul & Denise (Serge) Thibodeau of Innerkip, Ontario; 2 step-daughters, Liz Opalinski of Edmonton & Anne (Bob) Stainthorpe of St. Albert; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Yolande Dubois & Antoinette (Pat) Gratton all of St. Paul; 3 brothers-in-law, Paul (Donna) Chamberland, Jean (Raymonde) Chamberland & Adrien (Jeannine) Chamberland; sister-in-law, Yvonne Neumann; numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Narcisse Robinson; second husband, George Chamberland; third husband, Mike Opalinski; a daughter in infancy; 2 sisters, Germaine (Emile) Ayotte & Rita Robinson; 2 brothers, Pascal (Clarisse) Pigeon & Joe (Cecile) Pigeon; parents, Ernest & Lucienne Pigeon. Marie-Ange's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the relatives and friends who gave a helping hand during her stay at the Edmonton General Hospice unit. A very special thank-you to the staff of the Hospice 9Y unit who provided care with compassion and dignity. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Cathedral, St. Paul. Reverend Father Gerard Gauthier will be the celebrant, with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, St. Paul. If desired, donations may be made to Haying in the 30s Cancer Support Society or St. Paul Palliative Care Association c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1.
