Obituary

On November 29, 2015, Mr. Verne “Cowboy” Leonard Charles Cardinal of Saddle Lake passed away at the age of 60 years.  He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Rachel; 4 daughters, Christine (Donald) Cardinal, Shelly (Owen)Wildcat, Crystal Sparklingeyes & Sandi Hunter; son,  Owen Hunter; step-children, Beverly Cardinal, Becky (Nathan) Rattlesnake & Jesse Cardinal; 15 grandchildren; siblings, Josh (Theresa) Cardinal, Patricia (Brian) Cardinal, Debra Cardinal & Muriel Benson; numerous nieces & nephews.  He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Swain;  parents, Clarence & Bertha Cardinal. Wake will be held on Thursday & Friday, December 3 & 4 at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. It’s still hard to believe. We’re at a loss for words. I know there is nothing for us to say that will make your loss easier but know that we’re sending you our love and support. I hope you can understand what I can’t put into words. Cowboy was not only a mosum to our children but also a very kind and gentle man to all, he will be greatly missed. There is no hurting, no suffering, and no pain in up with the Star people. While we grieve his physical loss, please be comforted by the fact that he is in a far better place now. And our Creator will always be here for us as they watch over our daily lives.
