In addition to one brother, Peter Andrishak, Steve is survived by 3 daughters & two sons, Janice (Dan) Zarowny, Carole (Tom) Rae, Ellen (Dennis) Garnier, John (Sandra) Andrishak & Jim (Michelle) Andrishak; 9 grandchildren, Ian Garnier, Douglas (Janna), Colin (Nathalie), & Ryan (Nichole) Zarowny, Tom & Suzanne Rae, Amanda, Dana & Sarah Andrishak; 9 great-grandchildren, Desiree, Taylor, Owen, Mathew, Ava, Tyler, Evan, Erika & Sadie.

Steve was predeceased by his wife, Doris; grandson, Cody Garnier; 3 sisters, Anne (Steve) Lazoruk, Olga (Max) Fischer & Jean (Angelo) Provenzano; 2 brothers, Fred (Velma) & Mike (Mary); sister-in-law, Joanne; & his parents, William & Mary.

Steven was born at Warspite, Alberta on January 7, 1921, and moved to Elk Point with his family in 1926. He attended school in Elk Point, loved hockey and baseball, and enlisted in the army for several years during WWII. He met and later married Doris Walton, a young nurse at the Elk Point Hospital. In 1945 he purchased the Arnott Dance Hall. It was renovated and became the Arrow Theatre which he operated for 42 years. In his spare time, Steve began collecting (everything from bird's eggs to Fur Trade artifacts) and eventually built the Fort George Museum, which he proudly shared for 50 years. A significant contribution was his work with the Elk Point Historical Society in documenting and publishing several historical reviews of the Elk Point district.

Steve's wish to be cremated has been honoured and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date. If so desired, any donations may be made to the Elk Point Historical Society or Parkview Extended Care, who provided such excellent care for our Dad, c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. May your comfort come in remembering how your wonderful father/grandfather impacted the lives of so many people of Elk Point and district with his incredible theatre & museum. So many times we drove a
Carload of people to Elk Point to enjoy a movie with the famous jug of orange pop & delicious popcorn. I had the pleasure of passing on my old textbook collection to your dad for his museum. He was indeed an amazing individual that I loved to visit and relished his many stories. RIP
our thoughts and prayers to the whole family.

Please accept our condolences on Steve’s passing. We enjoyed seeing Steve out & about in Elk Point. He always had time for a chat and to share a funny story. When the Arrow Theatre came down, he gave us the glass blocks which we used in our cabin.

What an amazing man. I never missed a movie, started heading over to the theatre when the music started (Sail along Silvery Moon), I spent many hours up in the projection booth helping to adjust the carbons and changing the reels …just hanging out there. He always stopped in at the Pool Hall and told many stories, he made a great impression on me. The story that first comes to mind is the time he started collecting things, his first attempt at collecting things. He was quite young. He went up and down the main street and collected all of the keys from the Model-T’s. …..creating a bit of havoc . He knew all of the stories of the old days, he knew everyone, he was talked to everyone. He followed his passion …… will be missed.
