Sophia (Sophie B.) YACEYKO

Obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sophie B. Yaceyko on April 27, 2017, at the age of 91 years. Born March 29, 1926 in Hamlin, then lived at Stry. Upon retirement Sophia lived at St. Paul, Edmonton & Sherwood Park. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Koufogiannakis, Andee (Stasia) Yaceyko, Bill P. Yaceyko & Tim (Shelley) Yaceyko; grandchildren, George (Denise) Koufogiannakis of Edmonton, Tino Koufogiannakis of Malaysia, Amanda (Marc) Barrow of England, Jason (Fawn) Ellis of Calgary, Drew (Lori) Ellis of Grande Prairie, Evan & Jesse Yaceyko both of Ardrossan; great-grandchildren, Kaelin Koufogiannakis, Trinity Koufogiannakis, Jeremy Ellis, Zander Ellis & Darian Ellis. One sibling is left to cherish Sophie’s memory, Jeany Shtybel Turner of Dallas, Texas; and much loved nieces and nephews.
Sophie was predeceased by her husband, Bill J.; parents, Andrew & Paranka (Pearl) Shtybel; infant children, Ronnie & Dianna; & siblings, Nancy Sadlowski, Mary Kunyk, John Shtybel, Katie Dezanowski, Bill Stybel, Mike Shtybel, Anne Breault & Helen Dauphin. She was recently predeceased by her son-in-law, Larry Koufogiannakis; as well as her best friend & sister-in-law, Mary Yaceyko.
The family extends special thanks to the Capital Care Strathcona Long Term Care Facility Staff for their loving care of Sophia. And thank you to her companion Vilma, who treated Sophia like her own mother.
A Divine Liturgy & Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Stry. Very Reverend Father Don Bodnar will be the celebrant, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
