My deepest sympathies to all of the family. Mr. Brertton would visit the classroom on numerous occasions. He was truly a gentle man with love for all of humanity. He walked in God’s light and was humble, compassionate, caring and an elder who was humble and kind in every way. May he RIP and may all of you cherish his memory in your hearts forever.

From: Bonnie Hermiston

To Eliza and the Brertton family:
We were saddened to hear of Oliver’s sudden passing. Our family has fond memories of time spent together with him and Eliza, while camping at Lac Des Isles, SK. We enjoyed the beauty of the place, the pleasure of camp food, and laughter from good hearted joking. Oliver definitely had a gift for finding humour in the most unexpected of places in ordinary life. He was a gifted marksman, and in that same way, the humour arrived before you could see it coming or knew what had just happened.
Our last conversation was a pleasant one…standing beside a freshly tilled garden in Saddle Lake, afternoon sun filtering through the trees, and his grandson and great grandson nearby. We talked of gardening, nature (wild onions in particular), and our families before I carried on my way towards home. Oliver looked well and was clearly happy.
We know he was dearly loved and will be missed beyond words.
We mourn with you.
Sincerely,
Bonnie & Bill Hermiston
