Sorry that I cannot be with you on the 29th. Neil always loved his floor curling and also enjoyed it when he was able to attend an Elk Point Dinner Theatre performance. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

From: Sherry McDonald
Relation: Niece

I was deeply saddened to hear the passing of my dear uncle Manzie. Uncle Manzie was my father (Charlie’s) older brother.
I remember visiting Uncle Manzie and my Gramma Mae in Nova Scotia in the mid 70’s. Driving around, getting dirty playing with coal, visiting so many friends and family. Uncle Manzie knew everyone and was so well liked and respected. There was always people in and out of grandma’s house. Lots of laughter, music and never a shortage of stubby bottles of Labatt 50’s beer!
So many happy memories.
In the late 70’s grandma Mae (his mom) came to live with us. He would visit us all in Toronto. I enjoyed hearing about all the stories from Cape Breton. He is probably one of the smartest people I know. A quick wit and great sense of humor.
He moved to Alberta and unfortunately our family wasn’t able to visit as often.
I am happy to know that he was so well loved by his community. I feel blessed that he lived a happy life surrounded by people who loved him. I enjoy learning that he was a great curling player and had many close friends.
I want to thank my cousins, The Dechaines and all of their family for taking care of my uncle, for being there when he needed someone to talk to. For making sure he was never lonely. Family was very important to him as well.
Living in Toronto and he in Cape Breton and Alberta; I regret not having more concrete memories.
Mostly I remember feeling happy when with him, feeling excited to see him and being very loved.

I will miss you Uncle Manzie. Rest peacefully.
