Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary Yaceyko, who passed away peacefully at age 93. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elizabeth Podloski, Steve (Gisele) Yaceyko, Irene (John) Romaniuk & Vicki (Leonard) Bohachyk. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Sandra Romaniuk, Ray (Sylvie) Podloski, Gerald (Tamara) Podloski, Linda (Colin) Hensch, Cory Yaceyko, Tanya (Micheal) O’Donnell, Rhonda Flinn, Brad (Arja) Romaniuk, Beverly (Ron) Bauer & Leanne (Sean) Fogarty; & 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sophia Yaceyko of Sherwood Park; & numerous nieces & nephews. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph (2001); her 2 brothers, Eddie & Bill Lumsden; her parents, Onufrey & Katrina; and son-in-law, Ted Podloski. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Stephan Raubenheimer and the Smoky Lake Auxiliary staff for their support and compassionate care given to Mary for the past 3½ years. As well, the family acknowledges the excellent friendly care to Mary at the Vilna Lodge for 8 years prior, as well as Myrnam Lodge for several seasons. Divine Liturgy & Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Stry. Very Reverend Father Don Bodnar will be the celebrant, with interment in the church cemetery.
