Obituary
On December 21, 2013, Mrs. Mary Metrunec of Myrnam passed away at the age of 100 years. She will be lovingly remembered by 2 sons & 2 daughters, Gerald (Anne) Metrunec, Ron Metrunec, Vivian (Orson) Gadowsky & Carol (Marko) Mihajlovich; 13 grandchildren, Moira (Mark) Stoll, Lilia (Patrick) Livingston, Marko (Elizabeth) Metrunec, Daria (Dennis) Michayluk, Gregory (Krystal) Metrunec, Mitchell (Sherry) Metrunec, Rhonda (Ryan) Morey, Tracy (Clint) Curle, Karen Gadowsky, Guy (Melissa) Gadowsky, Shannon (Sean) Rutherford, Stephan Mihajlovich & Magdalena (Dennis) Nichol; 24 great-grandchildren, John, Kalyna, Calum, Emily, Melodya, Dmitrius, Isaac, Thomas, Anastascia, Maxim, Jill, Lee, Rae, Anastasia, Sara, Noah, Abigail, Timothy, Brandon, Simon, Mac, Magnus, Mia & Emmy-Lou; 2 sisters, Sophie Prodaniuk & Zory Kurpil; numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Steve; daughter, Diane; parents, Dmetro & Katerine; great-grandson, Zachary; daughter-in-law, Judy; sisters, Lena Kryvenchuk & Ann Olesky; brothers-in-law, Sanky Kryvenchuk, Sam Olesky, John Prodaniuk & Mike Kurpil. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Myrnam. Reverend Father Wasyl Sapiha will officiate with interment in the church cemetery, Myrnam. Thank you Dr. Hassan for your compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Myrnam c/o 5626-51 St., St. Paul, AB. T0A 3A1. I fondly remember family visits and summer holidays spent at the Metrunec home in Myrnam and we especially thank you for including us in your annual reunion last year. Dear Carol and family. Please allow me to share my deepest sympathy at the passing of your mother. This has been a difficult time and certainly she leaves a deep void although we know she is now experiencing the truest form of energy and light and is looking down on us in her most motherly fashion. I will share with you Deanna Edward’s poem about “My Mother’s Hands” which I shared in my mother’s eulogy. Allow me to quote only a few lines: “My Mother’s Hands, all the work they have done and the burden’s they’ve borne, I know only God understands. There is magic and mystery when I think about the wonder of my mother’s hands.” I will continue to check in with you. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
