Louis Leske

September 2, 1934 - May 12, 2013

Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce, on May 12, 2013, Louis Leske of St. Paul, Alberta passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 78. Louis Leske was a man who prioritized God in his life and loved his earth family with all of his heart, mind and soul. Because of his strong faith and unwavering love, Louis was able to inspire many of those around him to feel the presence of the Divine Creator, his Son and the Holy Spirit in their lives. His grace, generosity, honesty, and joyful nature are an incredible inheritance for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Alice, of 53 years; his daughter, Lorelee Kippen of Shamrock, Saskatchewan; and his two sons, Darryl Leske of Calgary Alberta, and Darcy Trevor (Stephanie) Leske, of Vancouver, Washington. Six of Louis Leske’s grandchildren survive him: Candace (Nick) Counter, Chad Kippen, Erik Knox, Kevin Leske Dunlop, Jesse Leske and Darcee-Lynn Leske.

Louis Leske is also survived by three of his brothers, Gordon (Beth) Les of Surrey, B.C., Oscar (Diane) Leske of Vancouver, B.C., and Peter (Lilian) Kurulak of Surrey, B.C. Louis’ stepsister, Annie (Mike) Steciuk of Sturgis, Saskatchewan, also survives him. Of notable mention are the surviving sisters and brothers of Alice Leske, who have shared many joyful, celebratory moments with Louis, over the course of Alice and Louis’ long and happy marriage. In addition, we note that Louis Leske is survived by loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Louis’ parents, John and Catherine Leske, of Canora, Saskatchewan, predecease him, as does his grandson, Michael Knox, of St. Paul Alberta. Louis was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn (Bo, or Houston) Cecil, of San Antonio, Texas; by his stepbrothers, Freddie Kurulak and Alex Kurulak; and by his stepsister, Mary.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the doctors who attended to his medical needs. Of notable mention are the superb efforts of Dr. Ellaurie, Dr. Gordon, Dr. Harmse and Dr. Ahmed, in the past few weeks, though there were many others in the medical profession, including the EMS workers and hospital staff at the St. Therese Hospital, St. Paul, who helped Louis Leske immensely with his care, over the past few months. We would also like to thank the congregation members and close friends from the Beauvallon Seventh Day Adventist Church, who comforted and entertained Louis Leske, both at the hospital and at his home, with their musical gifts, their lively conversations, and their loving prayers. We all benefited from the prayers, the company and the music, and we are thankful for these blessings.

A funeral service will be held at the Beauvallon Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Family members can view the body, offer their prayers, and pay their respects to Louis from 12:00 to 12:30, and other individuals attending the service can do so between 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. Pastor Daniel Rebsomen will officiate with interment taking place immediately after the ceremony in the church cemetery. The family gratefully will accept expressions of sympathy. If desired, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Diabetes Association c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. From: Stephanie Leske
Relation: Daughter-in-law

I will miss Louis’s quick wit and the jubilant conversations we often had. Just last week in a phone conversation, he was telling me grand stories of the early hybrid cherry trees with giant fruit as I told him about our blossoming apple trees. He was always so positive, sharp and fiery, even right up to the end. I know he is enjoying all the beauty and wonder up in heaven now and smiling down upon us with all his love for you, Alice, and the rest of his family and friends!

From: Judy Bealer
Relation: Trevor's Mother-In-Law

Heartfelt condolences go out to you, Alice and your family for the loss of a wonderful man. Trevor always spoke highly of his Dad and will miss him dearly. I am glad they had quality time together before he passed on. I look forward to seeing you when you come to visit Trevor & Stephanie sometime. Hugs to all. Judy
