On March 7, 2015, Mr. Leonard Cardinal of Saddle Lake passed away at the age of 68 years. He is survived by 6 daughters, Candace (Brent) Cardinal, Sheila (James) Favel, Jennifer McGilvery, Janine (Gary) Cardinal, Leanne (David) McGilvery & Ashley Cardinal; daughter-in-law, Sharon Gladue; goddaughter, Karen John; the mothers of his children, Rena Cardinal & Doris McGilvery; 23 grandchildren, Oden Steinhauer (his hockey boy), Kenneth Steinhauer, Mathias Steinhauer, Kyle Cardinal, Kendle Cardinal, Kainen Cardinal, Natayveiz & Natayiz McGilvery, Owen Cardinal, Chaz Cardinal, James (Cheeko) Cardinal, Jerel Favel, Tayza Saddleback-Cardinal, Cearra Tychkowsky, Lenneigha Steinhauer, Jaidah Steinhauer, Kristy, Kandy & Kiara Cardinal, Brookelynn Favel, Ruby & Lori Halfe, Chanel Dragomatz; 8 great-grandchildren, Tara, Serenity, LaKeisha, Perez, Tyson, Traydence, Kemmi & Kelisia; 5 sisters, Clara (Alphonse) Delver, Lucia (Dennis) Moosewah, Judy Crier, Jenny McGilvery & Bernice Cardinal; 2 brothers, Terry (Sandra) Cardinal & Melvin Cardinal; numerous nieces & nephews (he loved you all). He was predeceased by his 4 angels in heaven, Caitlan, Shawn, Jade & Brittany; 2 sons, Kenneth Leonard Cardinal & Joey Omeasoo; parents, Moses & Celestine Cardinal; maternal grandparents, Phillip & Amelia Cardinal; paternal grandparents, Peter Cardinal Sr. & Jean Large; sister, Sharon Cardinal; 3 brothers-in-law, Harvey Crier, Elmer Cardinal & Howard McGilvery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors & nurses in the University of Alberta I.C.U.. A Wake will be held on Thursday & Friday, March 12 & 13 at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Ayiwakes Cultural Centre, Saddle Lake.
