On January 9, 2017, Mrs. Lena Shwetz (née Leschenko) of St. Paul, formerly of Waskatenau, passed away at the age of 85 years. Lena is survived by 3 daughters, Debbie Jans, Carol Shwetz (Roy Lewis) & Valerie (Darren) Pratch; son, Perry (Karoden) Shwetz; 13 grandchildren, Chantel, Blake, Richard, Colton, Cali, Nancy, Anna, Seyara, Kanesa, Peytlen, Shanya, Katresa & Keydren; 2 great-grandchildren, Conner & Drake; & brother, Ed (Gloria) Leschenko. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; parents, Joe & Mary Leschenko; daughter, Judy; & 2 brothers, Bill & George Leschenko. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 16 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Waskatenau. Reverend Father M. Maranchuk & Reverend Father P. Haugen will be officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, Alberta T0A 3A1.
