It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Lena Koroluk of Vilna on May 8, 2018 at the age of 88 years.
Lena was born June 21, 1929 to Alex & Rosie Pawliuk. She grew up on the family farm in the Downing area and took her schooling at Lilyfield school. Lena was kind hearted and full of life, loved cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, knitting & crocheting until health issues caused her to leave her home and move to Vilna Lodge for a while, then to the Continuing Care Facility in Smoky Lake.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Marion (Tom) Strilchuk; son-in-law, Laurie Kunyk; 5 grandchildren, Elisha (Allan) Bernesky-Lyster, Lynette (Tony) Ventura, Leroy (Crystal) Kunyk, Laura Fleckenstein (Dave Donald) & Gregory Strilchuk (Kayla Dame); 3 great-grandchildren, Kristian, Tyler & Alexis Bernesky-Lyster; 4 sisters, Mary Melenka, Katie Andruchow, Nancy Zotek & Irene Pelech; brother, Bill (Winnie) Pawliuk; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Lena was predeceased by her parents; infant sister; 2 sisters & 3 brothers; husband, John Koroluk; & daughter, Shirley Kunyk. Lena will be greatly missed by everyone. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Vilna Cultural Centre, Vilna. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Hamlin. The Rt. Rev. Protopresbyter John Lipinski officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.
