It was my pleasure to work with Lasia at Veterans Affairs. Veterans appreciated Lasia’s warm and friendly way. She was always very kind to me and always had a little office gossip to share. I offer my condolences to her family and friends. She will be missed.

Lasia will be truly missed by all her friends at VAC. She was kind, compassionate, intelligent and always the first to welcome a stranger so they wouldn’t feel lonely. We will all miss her, but are grateful for the time we have had with her. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lasia’s family in this difficult time.

My condolences to Lasia’s family and friends at this extremely sad time!
I met and worked with Lasia when she first came to Veterans Affairs (through BPA) back in 1994-95. She moved to Veterans Affairs and, eventually, I joined her and we were paired together for about 10 years in the Disability Pensions section before she moved on to the Admin. section.
Lasia was always very social in the Office and had a way to make everyone, including new employees, feel comfortable and welcome. She was always very friendly and engaging to our clients when they came into the Office and she had a natural way of putting them at ease, even when there were health issues and they were very stressed to be in the Office. There were a great number of clients who asked “Where’s Lasia?” when she moved to our other floor and were disappointed that they didn’t get to see her. I didn’t see her as much when she moved to our other floor but she’d always make it a point, once a week or so, to pop over to my desk for a ‘debriefing’ (as we called it). She was a great person and I feel sorry for the people in the world who hadn’t yet gotten a chance to meet her … she was smart, extremely loyal, would give anyone the shirt off her back if they needed it. She had an awesome sense of humour and a dry sarcasm that always kept everyone around her smiling. She was a ‘ray of sunshine’ and kept up the morale in our Office. I already miss her ‘check-in’ Tmessages at work and noticed the absence of her comments on Facebook. The Office (and peoples’ lives that knew her) will never be the same without her. I’ll always think of her as a friend and my ‘partner in crime’. R.I.P. Lasia!!
