Obituary
On May 14, 2013, Mrs. Irene Melin of Elk Point passed away at the age of 88 years. Mrs. Melin is survived by 2 daughters & 1 son, Verona Lea (Glenn) Flanders of Elk Point, Lura (Denis) Lapointe of St. Paul & Lorne Melin of New Westminster, B.C.; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Van der Hoek, Brett (Jessica) Flanders & Jeffrey Lapointe; 3 great-grandchildren, Jordan Van der Hoek, Mackenzie Flanders & Madison Flanders; 2 sisters, Beulah Williams of Edmonton & Hilda Smith of Heinsburg; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Nelson of Lindbergh & Gwen Nelson of St. Paul; numerous nieces & nephews. Mrs. Melin was predeceased by her parents, Chris & Amy Nelson; 2 sisters, Hazel (Clarence) Hoard & Audrey (Fred) Lorenson; 3 brothers, Edward Nelson, Neils Nelson & Carl (Olive) Nelson; grandson, Michael Lapointe; 2 brothers-in-law, Ray Williams & Bob Smith. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Elk Point Community Church, Elk Point. Pastor Bill Kryzanowsky officiated, with inurnment in Ferguson Flats Cemetery, Elk Point.
