Evelyn Judith YACEY (née Sosnowski)

October 16, 1943 - May 16, 2019

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Yacey at the age of 75 years in Calgary, Alberta, after a courageous 3-year battle with brain cancer.

Evelyn was born in Beauvallon, Alberta, on October 16, 1943. In 1961 she moved to Edmonton, where she proudly worked as a lead stenographer for the Alberta government. She married Raymond in 1968, and moved to Calgary in 1973, where they raised 3 children, Roxane, Rhonda and Rodney. Her faith gave her a gentle spirit and a kind heart that came with a big smile and a contagious laugh.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Raymond; her children, Roxane, Rhonda & Rodney; her brothers, Ed (Flo) Sosnowski, Cliff (Kathy) Sosnowski & Bryan (Pauline) Sosnowski; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Emil) Sorochan & Cynthia Yacey; brother-in-law, Trent Yacey (Cathy Coumont); as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Joseph & Ivy Sosnowski  & parents-in-law, William & Caroline Yacey.
Those wishing to pay final respects to Evelyn are invited to join the family on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel, St. Paul, to celebrate her life. Reverend Father Andrij Nykyforuk will be officiating, with interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Myrnam. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1.
