It was just last week, at a Parole Board Hearing, he came into my office, we had a conversation involving work, but also the many times we met at the North American Indian Golf Classic, hockey tournaments. What a moment.
He now, joins John Fletcher, Raymond Arcand, Emil Cutknife, Raymond Cutknife, but most important to Him, he gets to golf with Phyllis.
Next on the tee: Phyllis and Ernie Cardinal!
Safe Journey my Friend.

From: Gerry Gunn
Relation: Co-worker at PBC

I had the wonderful privilege of having known Ernie for almost 10 years. I was always taken by his wisdom and knowledge and of how eager he was to pass it along to others. His personal stories always included his children and more so, his grandchildren. I am left with many words of wisdom that I am committed to remembering and carrying forward. I am particularly fond of his prayers that included placing your children and grandchildren ahead of ones self. I once commented to Ernie that I was amazed at how the rising smoke from almost every smudge he lit, seemed to follow him during his prayers. Right or wrong, I saw this as powerful and respected it every time I saw it. I am happy to know the Creator has returned him to Phyllis, who I know he missed dearly. Thank you Ernie. You will be missed.

From: Tracy Mcbain
Relation: I worked with Ernie at the Edmonton Max and EIFW, I was an officer.

My prayers are with all of Ernies family and friends. Ernie taught me so much about compassion, love, beliefs and understanding. Working with him at both the Edmonton Max and the Women’s institution I learned a great deal and it forever changed my life. He softened many rough edges of this officer and helped me develop into the person I am today. Much love and respect, safe journeys Ernie, I will be looking to you for guidance.
