Our sincere sympathies to all of you. Auntie Doris was my Great-Aunt, and Great she was! She taught me how to paint inside closets when I was twelve. She taught me to butcher and clean all those farm chickens. Her cooking skills were a pinch of this a some more of that ! Amazing cook and baker! Auntie taught me to be that auntie , who gives all kinds of yummy ,homemade goodies to take home. Never leave hungry and always love your family and friends. She taught all of us, to be good to others, and each other! We will always remember Auntie Doris and her big hugs, bright smiles, and deep love for family. Treasured memories , always in our hearts!🙏🏽♥️

I have a special memory of Doris, a story I have told many times and always to her credit. It seems that Doris was no stranger to cold weather travel. The heater in our 1949 Plymouth was not functioning at all. Facing a cold drive from Glendon to Edmonton with temperatures in the -20 degrees, Doris had a wonderful idea and here’s what it was. She told me to get the rock off the sauerkraut crock in the basement. Having done so, she put it in the oven a number of hours before Michelle & I were to leave. When it was time for us to depart she sent me to get several gunny sacks. She then placed the rock in the sacks and off we went for a warm and cozy trip home.
Thank you Doris for such a pleasant memory. I will continue to tell the story with great affection.
Elaine & I send our deepest sympathies.

Cindy and Rob and families ,sorry to hear about your mom, many ,many memories

From: Ed & Thelma Watrich
Relation: Niece & nephew

Being a next-door neighbor on the farm, Auntie Doris was auntie to the Watrich children before I married her niece. We have fond memories of her picking berries and mushrooms with us. She was a great, hospitable neighbor and painting companion to our moms on the painting jobs Thelma’s mother took on. Many interesting stories were shared there. While a resident of Glendon, she was a valued member the Catering Club, where even at 90 years she stood rolling perogy dough for hours. Now that’s one tough Auntie! We’ll continue to miss her at the Seniors’ Club birthday celebrations. Due to Covid, we really missed our visits and reminiscences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and may God surround you with His peace and comfort. – Ed and Thelma Watrich
