Dorine KUZMA
August 7, 1935 - September 2, 2017
Obituary
Dorine Violet Kuzma (nee Sunderman) passed away peacefully on September 2, 2017 in St. Paul at the age of 82 years. Born and raised in Fork Lake, AB, the second of 6 daughters of Joe & Lillian Sunderman. Dorine married Paul Kuzma in 1957 & originally they lived in Edmonton. In 1965 they moved to Spedden and operated a general store before settling on a farm in 1970 near St. Paul and raising their 5 children.
Dorine volunteered with various groups & organizations in the community. She was a dedicated 4-H leader, president of the Ag Society and an active member of the Town Recreation Board, PC Party, Figure Skating and Ukrainian Dance Clubs. She worked at Value Drug Mart & the Auction Mart for over 20 years.
Dorine was predeceased by her husband, Paul Kuzma; parents, Joe & Lillian Sunderman; sisters, Carol Palkun & Vera Pukal; brothers-in-law, Lou Pukal & Joe Bell. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children and grandchildren, Darrel and his children, Jamie & Cameron Kuzma of St. Paul, Rhonda (Rob) and their children, Savannah & Rachel Bundy of Goderich, ON, Curtis (Monique) and their children, Zachary & Bailey Kuzma of Beaumont, Corrine (Peter) and their children, Erica & Ryan Ward of Calgary & Michelle Kuzma (Duane Lucius) of Edmonton; sisters, Lois (Ed) Warawa of Chilliwack, BC, Elinor Bell of Cardiff & Gail (Don) Draper of Calgary; brother-in-law, Walter Palkun of Boyle; numerous nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Cathedral, St. Paul. Reverend Father Gerard Gauthier will be officiating with interment in Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haying in the 30’s (Cancer Support Society) c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. Our condolences to the Kuzma family with the passing of your dear mother and our aunt Dorine. Gwen’s first memory of your mother was her charging through the Edmonton snow as she pulled her on a sled. We remember your mother as strong, dedicated and always generous with her time. We always enjoyed talking with her!

Learning of Dorines passing over the rodeo weekend brought back many memories of 4-H and Ag society events . I saw a video clip of the tribute to Dorine at the rodeo and it really summed it up when I heard that Dorine was a mentor and she leaves a legacy! This, along with her beautiful smile and warm laughter. Rest well. My condolences to the Kuzma family.

Back in the late 90’s Dorine worked for us at the St. Paul Auction Market. She was a dedicated employee and remained a good friend always! Dorine was also a best friend to my Mom (late Betty Hudson), and they had a lot of fun travelling and working together! All of us who knew Dorine, knew she served her community as a great volunteer for many, many tireless hours through all these years! Dorine will be missed by all of us who knew her! We regret we were unable to attend services; and wish to extend our sympathy to your family.
