Obituary

HUBER, Donald
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Thomas Huber of Ashmont, Alberta, on May 1, 2021 at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Janine; daughter, Dalane (Don) Imeson; son, Chris (Joanne) Huber; grandchildren, Jim and Charlotte Huber, Russel, Carson (Brittany) and Warren Ference; and great-granddaughter, Brielle. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Alice; brother, Albert; granddaughter, Rowan Imeson; and grandson, Brady Imeson.
Don had a varied career as a logger, Cat owner-operator, big game hunting guide, commercial fisherman, and farmer. As an outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, working on the farm, and spending time at the cabin he built. He enjoyed country music, and in his retirement would sing the old songs and play his guitar at local music jamborees and long-term care facilities. Outgoing and friendly, he enjoyed visiting. He had the ability to begin a conversation with anyone, and to meet and make friends wherever he went. Not afraid to speak his mind, Don held firm opinions on a variety of topics on which he was well-informed. He loved a good argument!
Family meant everything to Don, who was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and he loved spending time with them, joking, teasing, telling stories, and hearing about their accomplishments and adventures. Loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Don will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He often said that he had lived a full life, and his family and friends know that to be true.
Due to COVID-19, no service will be held at this time. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations may be made to Haying in the 30’s (Cancer Support Society) c/o 5626 – 51 Street, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A1. To send condolences online, please visit www.gracegardensfuneralchapel.com.

It is with sadness that I have learned of Don’s passing. He was student of mine when was in grade eight and have always remembered him as a most bright, jovial and friendly person. Until recently I had the pleasures of meeting him again and his friendliness, and happiness was still a joy. I will always remember him as one of the nicest people I have come to know. He know he will truly be missed.

Don was a wealth of knowledge for fish and wildlife management. He often provided strong and useful opinions in protecting and conserving fish and wildlife habitats. Thanks Don and may you rest in peace.
Deepest sympathies to the family and God Bless Don.
