Relation: Neighbour &friend

Bruce Smith, my neighbour, a friend a man of many good qualities, a generous and giving person who sees no barriers be it color , race nor religion. I moved into the little village of Glammis Ontario in the summer of 1979, the only non-white and the only Muslim. Bruce greeted my family with open arms, he introduced me to the life of living in the country, things like lawn mowing, snow blowing, heating my house with wood and planting a vegetable garden. “Hell Man I am from Guyana” and was unaware of all these little things. However, Bruce was a good and patient man and I learned a few things hanging around him, like driving his Massey Ferguson tractor and blowing snow.
Bruce was a generous man, an active member of the Tiverton Lions Club and was instrumental in getting the children’s playground in Glammis up and running. He was a Christian man who attended church regularly and would be the first to answer the call when help was needed in and around the neighbourhood. He was a wonderful neighbour and friend and most generous with his time to assist anyone in need.
Bruce you were good to me and my family and we appreciate your kindness, we shared a few beers, and lots of stories. Those were indeed good times and good memories. We will never forget your kindness and friendship.
May God grant you Eternal Peace.
Moe, Debbie, Nida and Alia Hanif
