Alec Chomiak
August 14, 1931 - March 13, 2015
Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Alec Chomiak on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the age of 83. Alec was a life long resident of the Boyne Lake District. Born in Poland, Alec immigrated to Canada in 1937 with his family. He attended Floating Stone School in Boyne Lake and spent his life farming the land he loved. He spent his later years enjoying life fishing throughout the seasons on the lakes in the area and a good crib game. He leaves to mourn his loving nieces and nephew, Jim Grove, Donna Grove & Janice (Mitchell) Brown; his lifelong friends, Leonard and Kathy Garner and their family; as well as special neighbours and extended family throughout Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents, Dennis & Palagia Chomiak; sister, Violet (Donald) Grove; half-brother, Steve & half-sister, Nancy. Thank you to the staff of the Acute Care Unit at the St. Therese Hospital for their thoughtful care over the years.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Boyne Lake. Reverend Father Benny Ambrosie will be officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to Sts.
