Patricia Kenyon

June 1, 1953 to February 15, 2012

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Kenyon of Westbank, B.C., on February 15, 2012 after a long battle with MS, with her partner and long-time caregiver Gary by her side. Pat was born in Willingdon, Alberta. She lived in Willingdon and Edmonton for a short time before the family moved to Vilna, Alberta. Pat attended school in Vilna and graduated from Vilna High School in 1971. She met Dennis Kenyon and they were married on June 24, 1972. Pat and Dennis were blessed with 2 children, Colleen and Michael. During their marriage Pat and Dennis lived in various places in Canada and Germany as Dennis was transferred several times with his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force, finally settling in Edmonton. Shortly afterward, Pat was involved in a minor car accident which brought on her MS. Pat and Dennis were divorced in 1998. Pat met Gary in 2000 and Gary became Pats partner and main caregiver as her condition continued to worsen. Pat and Gary moved to Westbank, B.C., in 2007 in the hope that the mild climate would help Pats condition. Gary continued to care for Pat right up to the time of her passing.
Pat is survived by her common-law husband, Gary Schauer; her daughter, Colleen (Richard Hatt); her son, Michael; & 3 grandchildren, Joey, Zoey and Mia. Pat is also survived by her mother, Kate Kucher; brothers, Ron (Judy), Ken (Gretchen) & Allan (Donna); sister-in-law, Kris; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her ex-husband, Dennis; father, Alex; & brother, Doug. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pokrova Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Edwand. Reverend Father Benny Ambrosie will be officiating with interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to MS Society or a charity of ones choice c/o Box 1780, St. Paul, AB T0A 3A0.
