Lucien "lu" Gobeil

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucien Gobeil. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Cheryl; his children, Nicole (Earl Bear) & Marc (Shera-Lynn Jones); former daughter-in-law, Tara Pohl; his beloved grandsons, Kaymen Bear, Luke Bear & Aidan Gobeil; Cheryls son, Mathew Balfour; his siblings, Cecile (Brian Stumborg), Florence (Vince Dwyer), Remi (Lillianne Comeau), Marguerite (Karl Trommeshauser), Valerie (Chris Harder) & Gerry (Rebecca Crosby); and his many nieces & nephews. Lu was predeceased by his parents, Maurice & Fernande. Memories of Lu will certainly include the enjoyable times spent at Sun-Forged-Acres. On his cherished land Lu, with the help of Cheryl, designed and constructed a beautiful straw-bale home, surrounded it with orchards, gardens & flowers; added the sounds of chickens, cats & his faithful dog Sheba. It is here that we family and friends enjoyed his great generosity with numerous meals of fresh home-grown vegetables and free-range chickens. We listened as Lu entertained us with his adventures of encountering coyotes, deer, elk, moose and occasionally a bear or a cougar as he cut timber or simply walked his land appreciating nature its silence and beauty. Private inurnment has taken place. A celebration of Lus life will be scheduled at a later date. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the neighbors, friends and staff at the Bonnyville and Elk Point hospitals, especially to Dr. Irma Kritzinger, for their love and support over the past two years.
